Independence Day 2012

....I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

(diss him and my mom'll kill ya)

Let me be perfectly honest with you...on the "awesome scale" I would give last years 4th of July about a 4. So this year I was bound and determined to have an AWESOME 4th of July. I WAS raised by the most patriotic woman I know, after all!
This 4th of July was pretty much awesome...blew last year out of the water. :) It was my first 4th of July as a married woman (yay).
I will now revert to one of my favorite things...a list.

Brianna Jensen's Top 10 Favorite Things About 4th of July 2012

1. Faux 4th of July (which Matthew lovingly referred to as, "Feuxth of July") with my family on Saturday June 30th. We had a big BBQ with the Griffith side of the family.

2. Seeing my cousin, Michael, who is in the CHP academy in Sacramento right now. I loved hearing stories about the academy, watching him handcuff members of the family, and say things like, "if he becomes belligerent."

3. Watching my 30-something brother slide down the slip-n-slide. He's so awesome.

4. Running the Bob Jones Trail with Cameron

5. Relaxing Avila Beach day

Cameron LOVES Pistachios...he found a secret Costco-sized bag of them in my car-JACKPOT!
I must apologize to my husband for being paparazzi to the point of annoying...I think this was taken right
after he said something to the tune of "I'm done."

My beautiful Avila Beach! It wasn't too crowded even though it was 4th of July! It was also slightly overcast, but
we didn't care...it was still a beautiful day and was plenty warm! We even got in the water!!

Back to my list....

6. Fish and Chips (Calamari and Chips for Cameron) for lunch at Avila Grocery. Mmmmm....

7.  I made my own Costco-style Brownie Bites! I just made brownie batter and put them right into cupcake tins! They were YUMMY! So soft on the outside and nice and gooey in the middle! :)

Side note: When Cameron and I were making 4th of July plans he hinted that he didn't mind if we didn't go see fireworks. WHAT?! Seriously!? I realize that I am a bit of a psycho and am am just too passionate at times (poor Cameron) but this was shocking! Even though 4th of July landed in the middle of the week I was not willing to sacrifice fireworks for anything!! Plus, in the back of my mind I was thinking that this will be our last 4th of July in San Luis County for a long time and Barney Schwartz is amazing! So I called my parents and they were more than happy to go there to see the show with us!!

8. Going to Barney Schwartz park in Paso for FIREWORKS!

So patriotic---Cameron and I

My wonderful parents---so glad that we could spend 4th of July with you!

9. Picnic Dinner waiting for the fireworks to start--sandwiches, chips, brownies, watermelon :) Then a post-dinner snack of Tootsie-Pops ;)

hmm.....I'm noticing that a lot of my favorite things have to do with food....

10. THE Pièce de résistance....

FIREWORKS!!

I LOVE THIS COUNTRY!!!!
