Giving Thanks 2014

Happy Turkey Day

Last year at Thanksgiving we were at home waiting for baby Nathan to make his appearance, so we missed on the surrounded-by-family, busy, loud, stuffed-with-mama's-cooking-for-days type holiday. This year we were blessed to spend an entire week at the ranch with the family.
We had such a lovely week, and as always my parents spoiled us rotten.

I told Cameron that I wanted us to go on at least 4 dates while we were in Paso (free babysitters, YAY!! Free babysitters where I don't spend the entire time I am gone worrying...) I think we ended up going on 3 dates, which was AMAZING. I was so grateful for the time we got to spend together (with AND without Baby Nathan)

Here we are on Thanksgiving day:
(I must brag a teeny tiny bit because I MADE Nathan's shirt. I cut and sewed and made that cutie turkey and I am so proud of it)

Nathan and my cousin Sadie. Don't hate her because she is so beautiful. It's not her fault she is so gorg.

Benny and Adden playing swords outside

We really missed our baby sister, Cal!

She drives me bonkers but gosh I love her!

These women are some of the most kind, funny, entertaining, wonderful people I know. I am so blessed to call them family.

Day after Thanksgiving hike up the hill....

Thanks, dad for carrying baby boy up!

Dirty Thirty

Yesterday I kissed my 20's goodbye.

Whaaaaaaattt!? Where did my 20's go? How am I 30-years-old? Its crazy talk, I tell you!

No, to be perfectly honest, turning 30 was FAAAAR less freaky/sad/depressing than I thought it would be. It helped that I had an AMAZING weekend facilitated
by my favorite people in the world.

To start off the Birthday Weekend Extravaganza I met my mom and sister, Tara, in LA. My mom hung out with Nathan in the hotel (thanks, mom!) and Tara took me to a Josh Turner concert!!!!! IT WAS AMAZING!

Ready for the concert!

Josh (yes, we are on first-name basis :)) was amazing. He is such a good, christian, down-to-earth guy. And although we were two of like 10 people at the concert who were under 60 years old, it was an amazing time.

The whole band came out in costume. Here is Josh Turner as "Big Daddy"

The next day we spent the day at the mall. My mom bought me some clothes and held Nathan while I shopped and took us to Rubys for lunch. I felt so pampered!

Nathan LOVED basking in Tara and my mom's adoration and attention.

That night my brother, Matthew, his wife, Carrie, and my nephews Adden and Ben came down to meet us for dinner. I was lucky enough to have Hillary come and surprise me and join us too! We had a great dinner at BJs and all of us rolled out of there stuffed to the brim with good food.

Free Pazookie for my bday. Nathan is in my arms. He completely zonked out during dinner. He had barely slept during the day and couldn't function any longer. I felt so bad for the poor guy

Monday, November 3rd

Cameron made me a yummy breakfast and Matthew spent the morning with us before heading back to LA on the train. After class Cameron came home and we went to the park and fed the ducks and took a walk at the lake.

It was such a nice birthday. It made me grateful to have been born into the family I was, to be alive during this time, to have the friends and family I do, to be a wife, to be a mother, and to live in this beautiful place. I am so blessed.

Halloween Town

When Witches go riding,
and black cats are seen
the moon laughs and whispers
tis near Halloween...

It is officially the holiday season and I could NOT be happier. Last year my due date was mid December, so I spent Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas completely preoccupied with baby baby baby. So this year it's go big or go home.

To start off our Halloween festivities we got a surprise visit from one of my BEST friends, Amanda. We met while I was living in Provo and have stayed in contact ever since. Amanda is a flight attendant (is that the PC way to say it, Amanda?) and had a week of vacation last week and spent her first day of vacation with us! It was so nice to see her.

Amanda was here on a Monday so she was able to join us for FHE. Baby Nathan went to bed early and we were able to carve pumpkins and catch up.

Amanda creates her masterpiece

Cameron is such a perfectionist-but it is worth it cause his pumpkins end up amazing

Finished product-A vampire minion!

Finished products! Amanda with her Toy Story Alien and me with the Princess and the Frog

Next came our ward Halloween Carnival!

I have dreamed for YEARS about dressing up with my husband and children. This year was our first year with a child, so I have spent months checking out Pinterest looking for the perfect family costume idea. When I saw a dad dressed up as a surfer with his baby shark I knew I could easily talk Cameron into such a simple costume. A couple of amazon orders later and.....

LA Galaxy Game

If you know anything about soccer you remember this moment in US soccer history:

2010 World Cup-Landon Donovan scores a late goal against Algeria, making it 1-0 and helps the US advance to the group of 16. EPIC MOMENT. My first moment...ever....being excited about sports. So I hold this moment very dear to my heart, therefore making Landon Donovan my favorite sports star ever.
(don't ask me to name any other sports guys, k?)

This is Donovan's last season playing soccer, so we knew we needed to go see an LA Galaxy (Donovan's team) game this season.

My parents, my sister, Tara, Cameron, Baby Nathan and I enjoyed lazy hours in the hotel watching General Conference and a pretty amazing game as well! Weekend WIN!

First of all, I have to apologize for the mediocre cell phone pictures. Nathan hadn't taken an afternoon nap yet so we took a little nap right before leaving for the game. I woke up a little disoriented and couldn't get it together enough to find my camera so we just took pictures on my mom's phone.

Baby Nathan did SUPER well at the game! Yay, buddy! He was happy as long as someone was cuddling him.

Free LA Galaxy scarves with our tickets!!

Michael Bradly-of the USMNT
(I didn't get any great pics of Donovan)
It was such a fun game and so fun to go with some of my very favorite people in the world.

Dear Donovan,
Even though you are retiring I would still pick your name if I ever bought a jersey.
Just know that is a really big honor.
