336 More Hours

Two more weeks. So I figured I should do one last update before baby comes. I can't believe that I am so close to the end!

This last week has been rough, but not because of baby. Nathan woke up SUPER sick on Thursday morning (when I was 37 weeks 2 days) and I ended up having to sit with him on the couch all day holding him, forcing him to drink, and comforting him. Even when I got up for 2 minutes to get a drink or go pee he would cry big crocodile tears. He was also waking up several times a night, needing me to lay with him until he fell back asleep. My mom was sick too, very sick, so I wasn't surprised to see him sick. Both my mom and Nathan got worse late Friday night so we ended up taking them to the ER. My mom was diagnosed with a bad virus and Nathan was diagnosed with Croup and we were sent home. Saturday evening I knew I was getting it too. I felt awful and could barely walk around. It gave me a new respect for how crappy Nathan must have been feeling. I have had a fever, chills, a horrible cough, lost my voice, have no energy, and feel like my head is going to explode when I stand up. Yesterday I could barely hold my eyes open. So now, we are sitting on the couch together, watching the millionth movie of the week, and wishing we could be spending the last couple of weeks we have just the two of us having fun instead of sick. The upside is that hopefully everyone will be healthy by the time baby girl arrives since I will most likely go over-due. Although I have had constant nightmares this week that I go into labor now, already feeling like I got hit by a truck. I can't imagine how miserable that would be. Keep us in your prayers that DOESN'T happen.

How big is the peanut? She weighs about 6.8 pounds and she is over 19 1/2 inches long (about the size of a leek)

Maternity clothes? haha

Sleep? Well, between Nathan and myself I feel like I already have a newborn. So....that's awesome.

Best moment this week? ???

Symptoms? Before Nathan and I got sick this week and I was doing nothing but sitting and laying I was feeling a lot of pelvic pressure, so I was thinking she really might come early! Since spending time as an invalid I have felt less that way....which is really a blessing because I want to get healthy before giving birth.

Food cravings? Peanut Butter Puffins and fruit smoothies.

Food aversions? Nope.

Gender? GIIIIIIRL.

What I miss? Not being heavy.

What I'm looking forward to? Meeting baby girl!

38 weeks means that baby girls lungs are all ready to come out so no matter when she comes she will be fine! That makes me feel good!

Bump? In all my glory.....

My SIL Carrie is due with their 3rd baby boy at the end of June so we had to take a cousins picture at Callie's birthday a couple of weeks ago. So excited for these two to grow up together!

Treehouse Reunion 2016

Treehouse Reunion!

Have you guys ever seen Anne of Green Gables? If not, serious shame be upon you and your family. In the Anne books she talks about "bosom" friends. You know, those friends that you hold so close to your heart they are more like family? A real kindred spirit. When I was living at BYU Provo I roomed with 4 women who became such to me.
The 5 of us have kept in close contact over the last 5 years since we lived together and I have been able to see 3 of the 4 fairly regularly since we have been in the western United States, but our dear Maureen moved to Vermont not long after I got married so we haven't all been together since Cameron and I were married in 2012. 4 years was too long. Yet, at the same time, it felt like no time had gone by at all. You know you are seriously kindred spirits if you can pick up right where you left off.
On March 31st the Treehouse Girls flew to LA from all parts of the United States-Maureen from Vermont, Angie from South Carolina, Allison from Colorado, and Morgan from Utah. These wonderful women all came to me, since I was 8 months pregnant and unable to travel. I cannot express how grateful I am that we were still able to make this reunion happen despite my seriously pregnant state. The girls rented a car and made the 4 hour drive up to Paso. I was so excited to see them, I could hardly contain my excitement and a little disappointment that they were all together in the car for HOURS talking about stuff without me!! (SERIOUS FOMO-fear of missing out) They got here at 9:00pm and I promised myself that I would go to bed at 10 since I am pregnant and seriously need my sleep. Anybody who understands what a group of women can be like probably wont be surprised to hear I finally crawled into bed at 1:00 am. No regrets.
Friday, April 1st
We spent at Avila Beach. I can't remember the last time I just sat on the beach and closed my eyes and relaxed without worrying about Nathan drowning or wandering off. We took zero pictures together, but it was an absolutely perfect sunny day. We spent hours and hours laying in the sun, talking, laughing, crying, and bonding. It was the first Avila Beach Farmer's Market that evening so we enjoyed a Rasta sounding band, fresh fish tacos, and frozen yogurt. Perfect beach day.
Saturday, April 2nd
Started off the day at Hearst Castle! I knew when the girls decided to visit the Central Coast that I should at least suggest Hearst Castle since Angie is a serious history lover/buff, and when I suggested it EVERYONE was totally in. We had an AWESOME tour guide who was super passionate about Hearst's story and it really shined through in her presentation. There were like 50 people on our tour and I am pretty sure that 90% of the questions were asked by our little group of 5.

The flowers in the gardens were all in bloom, and because of that I would say that early April is a PERFECT time to head to Hearst Castle!

That evening my parents made an absolutely delicious BBQ-mom made salads and dad did Tri-tip. The girls were properly overjoyed/amazed/blown-away by dad's BBQ (test passed!) which is great. There aren't many things my dad enjoys more in this world than making delicious food and watching people devour it while praising his accomplishments ;)

Sunday, April 3rd
Sunday morning we made a delicious breakfast-waffles with strawberries and whipped cream, and watched the Sunday Morning session of General Conference.

Cameron and Morgan kept Nathan entertained and Morgan quickly became Nathan's BFF. Whenever they would go to the barn for anything (they were staying in the rooms in the barn) Nathan would hold up his hands in puzzlement and say, "muh friends?"

After conference we went to Montana de Oro (sorry the drive was SOOOOO LONG ;) and went on a little hike. This is one of my favorite places on earth and I was so excited to share it with my friends!

That afternoon we recreated a photo shoot we had done when we were roommates.
I'm so grateful to Cameron for dealing with us and being our handsome photog.

Allison! I wish I was accepting as you. I wish I had your wit. You are secretly sensitive and I really like that about you. I love that you cry when other people cry. You are hilarious. I love your calm demeanor.

Angie, you are so GOOD. That's how I explain you to other people. I wish some of your goodness would rub off on me when we're together. You are kind and so non-judgmental despite being practically perfect in every way. You are genuine.

Morgan, you are so strong and so dedicated and dependable. You are such a good listener and such a supportive friend. I always know I can come to you with anything and I can come away feeling better.

Dear Maureen, what would I do without you, my wacky friend?! You light up any place you go. You make things fun. You ALWAYS know the perfect thing to say. I wish I was like that. You are strong. You are forgiving.

Monday, April 4th
The girls headed back to LA in the morning. It was so wonderful to see them. It was so hard to see them go. I wish we lived closer, but am so grateful to have their friendship in my life. In the wise words of LM Montgomery, "True friends are always together in spirit."

Easter Weekend 2016

Easter Festivities 2016

It might not seem like it, but my whole family isn't ALL together very often, so this Easter was very special to me because all of my siblings came home to the ranch! This was especially good timing because Cameron went to Baltimore to work a Color Vibe run with his family and Nathan and I were missing him on this special holiday.

The day before Easter we were having a birthday party for Callie! After setting everything up we took a family walk up Barnes Road!

Matthew is lovingly called. "Uncle" and I think there's a good chance he's #1 in Nathan's world. He LOVES Matthew, and I love that!

I love how Adden takes care of and loves Nathan

Family Selfie!
Party time!
Callie decided since this year she was turning 27 that of course her party needed to be 70's themed. Her wish was our command...

It was such a fun day surrounded by friends and family. We sure love our Callie and are so glad she was born into our family! (Even if I really wanted her to be a boy real bad when she was born ;))

Easter Sunday

It was a quiet day-we went to church and came home and had a yummy and simple meal and a quick Easter egg hunt before the boys had to go home.

These three....<3

Spring 2016

We have had a busy spring and I have been awful about updating my blog. But here's a little update of what we've been up to the last few months!

At the end of February the whole Griffith family went to Disneyland! Something we haven't done in probably over 20 years.

It was a beautiful day and Nathan was so excited to be surrounded by family at his absolute favorite place!

Here's a group of us on Pirates of the Caribbean. Matthew and Carrie's boys had never been to Disneyland, so this was Adden's first time on this ride and after we got off he told Tara, "I don't think it was a good idea for Grandad to take Nathan on that ride. It was pretty scary!"

Aunt Jen, Sadie, and Gianna came to SLO for spring break!

We got to spend a fun beach day with cousins! Nathan talked NON-STOP about "SATIE, SAATIE" all morning--couldn't wait to spend the day with her, then when we got there he was super bossy and refused to share anything with her. Everything she touched he would grab from her and say, "NO! Mine!" But Sadie was sweet and still played with him and the two of them LOVED playing in the water as much as they possibly could. I wish I was as unaffected by cold water as small children.

4th Anniversary at the Monterey Bay Aquarium!

We've been talking about going to the Aquarium for awhile now, and Cameron planned a special anniversary trip up there as a surprise for me! We did a family day this time around since we were going somewhere we knew Nathan would love.

We had a lovely day-went to the Aquarium and them to Bubba Gumps for lunch and to the Tollhouse bakery for ice cream sandwiches for dessert. Yummy! Perfect day, perfect company.

I can't believe we've been married for FOUR years! Where has the time gone?! I'm so grateful to be on this journey with such a hard-working, kind, loving man. He is a better father than I could have ever hoped to find for my children. He's the bee's knees and I love him so.

We had an AMAZING two months with Aunt Callie (Aunt Lala to Nathan) who was ALWAYS up for a good time. These two had so many adventures! I don't know what I would have done without her these last couple of months!

We have loved how green everything got on the ranch from all of the blessed rain we received!

Nathan had a short-lived but very passionate love for washing dishes...

Color Vibe Run, Santa Maria

Cameron worked at the Color Vibe Run in Santa Maria this year so Callie, my mom, Nathan, and I got to go and "run" the race for free! So much fun! Nathan has been super into colors lately so at each color station he loved talking about the colors, but was especially excited for the "peent" station. After every color he would ask, "peent? peent?" That's his current favorite color. He picked it all on his own, so I can't pat myself on the back for him not thinking colors are gender-specific.

So much fun, and so many adventures coming our way!!!!
